I was invited to ponder the link between science and spirituality over the weekend.
The invitation came during a delightfully lengthy dinner party conversation with the founder of one of the world’s leading life science (biotech) investment funds. He’s a staunch atheist who finds spirtuality in scientific law… (and existentialism, but that’s another story).
“The first law of thermodynamics states that energy can’t be created or destroyed,” he says. “It can only change forms.”
What that means is that we’re all made up of star dust, intimately connected with the awe inspiring grandness of the Universe.
